Nearly everyone experiences a little insomnia every once in a while. Studies show that less than one in four adults regularly gets a good night’s sleep. For most people having difficulty sleeping is the norm. Stress, long work hours, shift work, excessive worry and just too much to do can cause trouble both falling and staying asleep. For some people it can last a day or two. For others their difficulty sleeping lasts for a month. For the really unfortunate insomnia can last for months on end and turn into a sleeping disorder. No matter how you experienced insomnia, it can diminish your quality of life.

Most people usually don’t take any notice when they first begin to experience having difficulty sleeping. After all, we all have problems sleeping every once in a while. But as the lack of sleep increases its effects begin to take a greater and greater affect on your everyday life.

Insomnia can cause overreactions to small incidents and the stresses of everyday life. Your difficulty sleeping can make you think fuzzy and cause memory loss. If you are having problems falling or staying asleep it can trigger problems at work or school. It can also slow down your reaction time. As you reaction time slows down it increases the probability of you having an automobile, home, or workplace accident. Severe or chronic insomnia can affect a person’s life as much as chronic conditions such as heart failure.

Wouldn’t you agree that, no matter what kind of a problem you are having, it is always a better idea if you can find a natural cure? Especially when the alternative is taking one that is produced by the pharmaceutical companies?  The reason I think this way is because medical cures tend to attack the symptoms of the problem rather than attacking the problem itself. If you take an over the counter sleeping pill or one that is given to you by the doctor, all that it is really going to do is to put you into an unconscious state.  Medications mostly treat the effects of insomnia. You body is amazingly balanced. When you’re born, you rarely experience problems with insomnia because your body’s balance allows you to sleep deeply when you need to. As you get older, however, the environment around you creates problems. These problems, and how you deal with them, tend to throw your body out of balance, making it difficult for you to sleep. When this happens, one thing that tends to get out of balance is the hormones within your body. Then you begin to experience the effects of insomnia. Many people just hope they’ll fall asleep when they go to bed. That is why so many people end up suffering regularly from insomnia. If you would like to be able to overcome your difficulty sleeping, here are some simple things you can do to prepare your body to beat insomnia and get a good night’s sleep.

1. Stop eating so much sugar. Do you really want to improve your sleep? Then remove sugar completely from what you eat. Most people have far too much sugar in their diet. Sugar negatively affects your body’s balance for a long time after you initially ingest it. When you eat sugary foods your body pours a whole bunch of different hormones into your bloodstream which stresses your body. The pancreas reacts immediately  by flooding your bloodstream with insulin which results in your body’s chemistry becoming so imbalanced that you can actually end up with a sleeping disorder.

Why do I have difficulty sleeping?

Do you have difficulty sleeping? Are you one of those people that have trouble falling asleep and go to bed every night wondering how long you’ll toss and turn without sleeping? Are you one of those people that find falling asleep at night is a chore, a time that you dread? Are you one of those people who are looking for a cure for insomnia?

Throughout most of my life I could fall asleep quickly and easily. After I’d fall asleep I’d usually stay asleep throughout the night. That was until a few years ago when I had the call. The call was from the hospital telling me that both of my parents were very sick. That’s when I really started to have difficulty sleeping.

The voice on the other end of the phone informed me that my parents were both in the hospital. Both my parents had come down with the flu. As a result, my father was dying from pneumonia. My mother would recover but since she had dementia she would need me to make some decisions about where she would stay.
